We work with several stations in East, Central and Southern Africa. Motorcyclists who like to ride independently can use our self-drive formula from station to station.

We hand over an insured motorcycle with navigation, visa papers and hotel lists. You can leave the bike at a station, have maintenance done, or prepare it for the next trip. You decide how long a trip takes.

We are already in Mombasa, Kampala, Victoria Falls and Cape Town and we are expanding with Lilongwe and Pretoria. Every station has parts and a mechanic, and most have accommodation.

Highlights

  • Haojin “Hawk” 250 cc, prepared for Africa
  • Insurance and COMESA papers
  • Garmin navigation
  • Tools and inner tubes
  • Recommended hotels en route
  • Border-crossing documents and instruction
  • Meet the guides in the Netherlands before you go

Stations and how it works

Mombasa, Kenya

Our home station on the Indian Ocean, with the workshop, SawaSawa Beach House and the coast roads.

Kampala, Uganda

The start of the Nile sources, Rwanda and the green hills of the interior.

Victoria Falls, Zambia

Between the smoke that thunders and the long southern roads.

Cape Town, South Africa

The end — or the start — of a trans-African ride.

Lilongwe, Malawi

Being set up: the lake, the plateau and the route between Tanzania and Zambia.

Pretoria, South Africa

Being set up: workshops, parts and a second base in South Africa.

How it works

You choose a station, a number of days and a route. We prepare the bike, the papers and the hotel list, brief you in the Netherlands, and hand over on arrival. Rent is per day, for the motorcycle and for the Garmin.

Good to know

Do I need experience?

Yes. Self-drive means no guide: you need solid riding experience, a motorcycle licence and an international driving permit.

Which motorcycle do I get?

Usually a Haojin Hawk 250 cc, prepared for Africa. Ask us for the current fleet at the station you want to use.

What if the bike breaks down?

Every station has parts and a mechanic. If you break down between stations we help arrange recovery, but you are riding independently.

Can I leave the bike at another station?

Yes, that is the idea: ride from station to station, leave the bike and fly out, or have it prepared for the next trip.

How is the rental calculated?

Per day, for the motorcycle and for the Garmin. Ask for the current rates and the deposit.
