Why MotorSafaris

Small groups. Real roads. Local people.

We have been riding these routes for more than 20 years. We know the roads, the hotels and the people who make a trip work.

Routes that work

Good asphalt, beautiful dirt roads and the right daily distances. We adjust the route to the group, the weather and the roads.

Backup that follows

A support vehicle carries luggage, spare parts and two passengers. A mechanic keeps the bikes running and the group moving.

People, not tourists

Local guides, family-run lodges and stops where you meet people rather than a tour bus. That is the part riders remember.

The classic route

From the ocean to the roof of Africa

The 17-day Kilimanjaro tour starts on the Indian Ocean, climbs into the Usambara Mountains, crosses the savannah around Kilimanjaro and returns through Tsavo to the beach.

The people you ride with

Meet the team

MotorSafaris is small on purpose. The same two people who plan your trip are the ones on the road with you.

Peter Kimani, tour leader for MotorSafaris

Peter Kimani

Tour leader & organiser · Kenya

Born and raised in Kenya, Peter has been organising and leading motorcycle safaris for more than twenty years. He knows the roads, the workshops and the people along the route, and he is the one who fixes what needs fixing — on the bike or in the paperwork. He speaks English and Swahili, and is good company at the end of a long day.

Masoedi, known as Max, mechanic and photographer for MotorSafaris

Masoedi “Max”

Mechanic & photographer · Kenya

Max joined in 2016 as a trainee and stayed. He is a good mechanic and a good rider, keeps the bikes in condition and takes most of the photographs on this site. Every morning he is ready to ride — and by the end of the trip your bike runs exactly as it should.

Bookings and travel advice from the Netherlands come from Paul Duijf of TRAVEL 2 EXPLORE, our partner since 1998 — see contact.
