It is a unique and very beautiful expedition, and one to remember. We see elephants, giraffes and much more along the way. We choose rural but passable roads, because we also have to make miles.
To keep the journey affordable we sometimes camp in our own tents at good campsites, and stay in small local hotels, especially in the cities. The route has been run since 2017 under the guidance of Peter Kimani, always in April, May and June for the weather: no rain and not too hot. We navigate with Garmins and ride with an experienced guide and a good mechanic.

Good to know
Do I have to ride all 40 days?
No. The expedition is also bookable as two 20-day sections, so you can join for the half that suits you.
How hard is it?
Category 3. Long days, many kilometres and a lot of camping. You need to be comfortable riding 300 km days on mixed roads, and to live out of a bag for weeks.
What is the best time of year?
April, May and June: no rain and not too hot. The route is planned around the weather.
How much luggage can I bring?
About 15 kg, because everything travels in the support car and sometimes in tents.
Which countries do we cross?
Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia and South Africa — seven borders in total.
